While highly durable, proper care will maintain the life of the metal as well as the luster of the pearls. Best care is to remove when applying perfume, skin products, or any harsh chemicals.

Personally, I clean my own jewelry with any regular soap and fresh-water, rubbed between soapy hands, rinsed off and ready to shine on! You could also gently clean with a soft, lint-free cloth to restore shine.
